Stafforshire terrier or not? What do you think?
We picked up our dog from the local animal rescue a few years back and had to move because of work. We are now trying to find a place to live, in the ongoing dangerous breed era. The shelter said he was a staffordshire terrier, but we do not believe he is staffordshire terrier. We are thinking about going to a local vet and asking them, however if we could get your thoughts about his breed that would definitely help.
Any thoughts to what breed, or mixed breeds my dog might be?
I've recently adopted a new dog from a lady. I have had her now for 3 weeks. She is a very delightful little dog. I have never seen a dog take to a child so well. She instantly bonded with my son. With me too. She gets along great with the other dogs. At first I thought she did not bark at all. But I heard her in the back yard.yet she doesn't bark inside the house. She is supposedly little over a year old. Her teeth are very white. She is wire haired, medium length. Her ears are erected. Her muzzle is in the shape of a wedge. Her face is much darker than her body, except for the touch of white around her nose. Her body is brindle, with white patch on her chest. She also has white booty feet and a tip of white on her tail. She is small. Her chest bone seems to protrude. I have done a ton of research on the web. She looks a lot like a Portuguese Podengo, except for her coloring. Because brindle is not an accepted color for the breed. She also has the strange ring of fur / hair around her neck. Plus the Portuguese Podengo is pretty rare in the U.S. Her vet thinks she is a cairn terrier mix. The lady I got her from, said she was told she was a westie mix. After researching them both. Come to find out that both the cairn and westie are from the same line. According to what I have read. I just don't see the Cairn in her. Or the Westie. Anyone have any thoughts to what she might be? My profile picture is of her.Thank you for your input.zig
Need help identifying my dog's breed
Her name is Josie. She is six years old, 52lbs., 20" at the shoulder, and 35" from snout to base of tail. I can't for the life of me identify her breed. I have narrowed it down to MAYBE some sort of Chinook mix. Please help.
Vaccinations are killing my dogs
Our 6 year old Scottie got a Lepto shot a few weeks ago. The next day he became lethargic and eventually stopped eating. We took him back to the vet and he was diagnosed with IMHA. He was put on prednisone and imuran. His blood levels returned to normal but about 3 weeks after the shot he developed what appears to be a neurological issue. He has pain and weakness in his back legs and drags them as he walks. Our Westie was diagnosed with AIHA after getting a shot from the same vet and had to get blood tranfusions and needed imuran and prednisone. She recovered but the disease came back a few years later and we lost her. My question his how common is this? It seems extremely unlikely to have this happen to two dogs from the same family. We're afraid we will probably lose the Scottie as diagnosis and treatment of the neurological issue will run into the thousands of dollars. Is there a chance of recovery from this without treatment? Should I avoid this veterinarian? We are very frustrated.
Hello people! I think I may have found a product that is really good at keeping your dogs happy and healthy. I'm sure many of you use this, it's called coconut oil. It can help keep your dogs fur rich, it can help your dogs metabolism, and if needed it can help your dog loose some weight. There is this company call memory oils that has it very cheap. They have a promo code where if you use it you get 10% off.The website is memoryoils.com
Trying to find my dog's breed
I'm including a link to pictures I uploaded to photobucket. Some of the pictures are right after she was groomed, but two of them (with the funny hair on her head) are what she looks like naturally.
My dog keeps shaking his head (have appt.)
My dog keeps shaking his head. It's been like it for the past 2 hours or so. I noticed him scratching his ears more than usual as well. I already have called the vet and she will be able to see him tomorrow morning.
However, I was wondering if there is anything I can do to give him relief in the meantime?
